Outatime

Yeah, i just finished watching "Back To The Future" Part I, II and III. Its been years, absolutely years since i seen them, must have been at least 10 years or more. I can't believe it actually took me this long to see them again.

But i stumbled over the Blu-Ray sets two days back and i couldn't resist buying them, simply because i remembered the films as being hilariously funny, so i spent the 60 dollars on the box and haven't regretted it one bit.

Seriously kids, if you haven't seen this trilogy you are missing out on one of the best series of films in history. I fully recommend you to treat yourselves to the Blu-Ray sets if you have a Blu-Ray player, else, just get them on DVD to watch again and again.

Besides with a car THIS cool, why wouldn't you want to see the films?

*sigh* computers...

Yet another reason why i hate computers presented itself today.

I am a person that enjoys the challenge of roleplaying games, especially the Bioware games, like Mass Effect, Baldurs Gate and so. A game i however have not finished yet is "Knights Of The Old Republic". A legendary game in its own right and although i know the main plot, i really want to play and finish the game. Not an issue most would think...

Well then i state that the game has to be run on a computer, shouldn't be an issue... Or should it? I've always been a passionate computer gamer, the consoles never had that much appeal to me to be honest. However all that changed when i got my hands on Microsofts brilliant Xbox 360, and late Sony's Playstation 3. Both fantastic machines, and i suddenly see the charm of not having to spend tons of money on upgrading my hardware every 2-3 years.

Futhermore... the consoles just plainly works... every single time... no problems... no upgrades... no wierd language... nothing of that sorts. Thats where i have my computer to give me those issues.

See, if you want to play KOTOR (either one of them) on a Vista or Windows 7 operating system, then the games just start killing you outright, crashing before you even get past the character creation screen. However good for us that there are people that will spend hours finding solutions so that we can get our games working. That's exactly what some nice folks over at the Lucasforums.com have done. And kudos to them for doing it, its a great help for a lot of people as i can read.

However then comes the occasional guy like me, that doesn't understand computer language and all that stuff. Even with very though roughly following their tips to make the games work... I realize that i didn't understand close to anything that was written, i am not considering myself a caveman in terms of computer, however the second i go lost, a GPS couldn't even help me.

Also i find it really frustrating that SOME of my old games just simply won't work with the new Windows. See now that was a problem i never did experience in XP.

This is one of those times that i really really wish to give my 360 a hug for being simple, and just always working.

Of course i realize there are things the consoles cannot; like use Word for instance. But i swear my next PC will be a laptop, only to be used for office work, the occasional game that i cant play on my consols (Total War series for instance or The Old Republic), and by all means it is going to run on Windows XP.

Damnable Phone

Had to send my Iphone for repair today, something happened to the audio output, that connects to my headphones, which makes the audio all wierd and stuff. Since i pretty much brought it back in May to have a new MP3 Player (and because my grandparents had a more advanced phone than mine), i needed it returned, with somewhat bleeding heart. As much as i despise Apple for having their noses stuck up their arse when it comes to working with things not from Apple, then i had ultimately given in and brought the 3Gs just before the 4 came out. Within short time i actually came to love the little thing and depend on it for a lot of tasks, in general just making my day easier.

But now i thought i was kinda stuck with the W810I as shown in the picture (Picture not of MY phone), which was the phone i had before the Iphone, now that my Iphone is at repairs, it turns out that my old Sony Ericsson doesn't work anymore, so now i have to go tommorow and borrow a phone from the company that i brought my phone at, which probably means i'll have something that doesn't even have a color screen.

Anyways, the sales lady said it probably wouldn't take more than a week, and luckily the warranty given by law in Denmark should make sure that i don't get some unexpected bill for the repairs. At least some kind of light at the end of the tunnel

Deathtroopers

Just finished listening to the book "Death Troopers" by Joe Schreiber. Got it free from Audible.com to try out this audiobook thing, versus a real book.

Had to admit I was a little skeptical about both the audiobook concept, and the horror-Star Wars combination, however i am thrilled to announce that i really enjoyed both parts of it.

The book itself centers around the Imperial Prison Ship "Purge" on its way to a Penal Moon with about 500 of the worst low-life scum in the galaxy, in the middle of nowhere their engines break down, and they are stranded until the come across a derelict Imperial Star Destroyer, from which they believe they can salvage the parts to repair their engines.

I wont spoil more of the plot in the story, but it has some interesting characters, the prison ships doctor, the correction officer captain, 2 prisoners that are brothers and 2 well known scoundrels from the Star Wars universe. Along them are a lot of side characters that add to the liveliness of the universe aboard the "Purge"

All in all i really enjoyed it, the narrator of this audiobook; one Sean Kenin really does a good job, with telling the story, giving each character a voice and his studio have put in some nice sound effects along the ride that made it more alive.

In case you want to try out audiobooks, i can defiantly vouch for "Death Troopers"
